What is Neoprene?

Neoprene or polychloroprene is a type of synthetic rubber, which was developed in the 1930s.  It is extremely versatile and has been incorporated into numerous products, used in every day life.  Examples include wetsuits, laptop sleeves, orthopedic braces (wrist, knee etc), electrical insulation, car fan belts in addition to the stubby holders and wine bags shown on this site.

It is notable for its insulating and protective properties.  It is lightweight, pliable and slightly stretchy.

WARNING TO INDIVIDUALS WITH LATEX ALLERGIES:  Some individuals with latex allergies have been known to react to Neoprene.

Print Process

We offer screen printing of your own designs and logos onto our products.  There are two types of printing available.  These are screen printing and dye sublimation.

Screen printing:
This is a printing technique that uses a screen.  Areas of the screen are blocked off to form a negative of the image to be printed.  Ink is passed though the screen onto the neoprene below, to form the image.  If more than one colour is required in the image, then each colour forms a new layer of ink.
The texture of the screen print is plasticky and is slightly raised from the surface of the neoprene.  The graphic detail is very clear.

This method of printing works very well for solid colours, but not for shaded/graded areas, as each grade of colour will form a new layer of ink.

Please see our coolercans and hibiscus designs in the store for examples of screen printing.

Dye sublimation:
Dye sublimation is a printing method whereby solid dye particles are changed into gas using heat and pressure, they then bond with any polymers present and change back into a solid.  In effect, the dye penetrates the fiber of a suitable polyester or polyester coated fabric.

The texture of the print is virtually the same as the fabric, as colour is impregnated into the material surface of the neoprene.

This method of printing works very well for photographs and complicated images with shading and grading.

Please see our zebra, leopard and liquorice allsorts designs in the store for examples of dye sublimation.

Print colours:

Screen printing: It is possible to print almost any solid colours  in screen print and we can match Pantone solid coated colour book.

Dye sublimation:
It is possible to print almost any colour using dye sublimation, with the exception of shiny colours, such as gold, silver and neon.  We will make every effort to match Pantone colours, but cannot guarantee an exact match.

Neoprene colours:

The neoprene base colours are shown on the chart below.  However, if you have a specific requirement which is not shown, please contact us and we will find out availability for you. (click on chart for larger image)

Sizing guide:

Your choice of stubby holder will depend on the diameter of your drinks container, whether this be bottles, cans or cups.  We have listed below some popular brands and containers to give an idea of the stubby holder size you should order.

The stubby holder will be more effective at maintaining the temperature of the drink, if the fit is fairly snug, although if you use a slim bottle in a standard stubby (this will produce a loose fit), you will still get the benefit of keeping your hands warm.

Please use this list as a guide only. For a guaranteed fit please measure your bottle first or take our recommendation and buy a selection of both sizes.
